THE challenge
Frood helps students share extra food on campus instead of letting it go to waste.
As the platform grew beyond its original university initiative, fragmented flows, inconsistent interfaces, and unclear food availability made the experience harder to use and scale.
Making it easier to share food
Students struggled with a fragmented posting flow.
I reorganized the process into 3 guided steps, making it easier to understand what information was needed and when.

Reduced posting steps from 5 → 3 steps
Making available food easier to find
Food listings were difficult to scan, with important details competing for attention.
I reworked the feed hierarchy and listing cards so food, location, timing, and availability could be understood at a glance.
Helping students know when to act
Finding a listing didn't always mean the food was still available.
I introduced availability levels alongside servings, interest, time remaining, and location, giving students enough context to decide whether a trip was worth making.

Building one system across brand and product
Hungry Hawks had grown without a consistent visual language across the experience.
I led the rebrand to Frood and created a shared visual system across typography, color, food categories, interface components, and availability states, giving the product a foundation that could grow with it.
reflection
Frood taught me to look beyond the screen in front of me.
What began as individual usability problems often pointed to larger issues across the product. Working across research, interaction, and visual design taught me to trace those problems back to the system and improve the experience as a whole.
